Business Improvement

As a Business Improvement Nuclear Graduate, you will get the opportunity to learn and support business improvement across the entire UK fleet, working with key stakeholders. You will support the development and delivery of operational excellence programmes encompassing behavioural safety, human performance and aspects such as psychological safety, contributing to driving our organisation’s safety performance. In addition to supporting the operational excellence programme, the role will also support delivery of continuous improvement and simplification workstreams, managing associated simplification projects using project management techniques, to drive business improvement.

This placement offers graduates the opportunity to gain experience of business improvement. You will get the opportunity to:

• Learn about the importance of behavioural safety, human performance and psychological safety in delivering safe outcomes.
• Develop the skills, deploy programmes that help drive safety performance
• Learn, develop and support the application of lean/simplification techniques to drive improved performance.
• Secure industry recognised experience in behavioural safety and lean.

Recent graduates on our Business Improvement Nuclear Graduate Scheme have developed and implemented a comprehensive environmental loss–related data gathering system, applying the SQCDP methodology to drive continuous improvements in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and people metrics. They’ve led stakeholder and communications planning to secure buy-in across departments, designed safety campaigns that engage every level of the organisation, and presented data trends to senior leadership to inform strategic decisions. In tandem, they’ve delivered immersive Human Performance Training sessions, equipping teams with the behaviours and tools needed to elevate operational reliability and nurture a culture of excellence.

Throughout your two-year journey on the Nuclear Graduates programme, you will be employed by Energus whilst being supported by an industry leading sponsoring organisation. At the end of your two-year programme, you will be supported in securing a role with your sponsoring organisation or within the wider nuclear sector.
