Technology & Innovation - Nuclear Graduates

Programme Overview

Say hello to the NDA group graduate programme

We’re the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) group, delivering one of the world’s most important environmental programmes to decommission the UK’s earliest nuclear facilities.

Our group is responsible for 17 nuclear sites in all parts of the UK, together with specialist nuclear waste and international transport businesses. And our work is growing, with more facilities joining us to be decommissioned in the next decade.

Sustainability, safety, and security are at the heart of our long-term mission to prepare our sites for their next use, work which spans into the next century.

As an NDA group graduate, you’ll get the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution towards the delivery of our nationally important mission. During our two-year graduate programme, you’ll take part in three placements in different parts of the NDA group. You’ll start with a 12-month placement, before completing two six-month opportunities. In exchange for your contribution, you’ll be supported at the end of the programme to secure a role in the NDA group.

We have a number of Digital & IT graduate opportunities within the NDA group, for the initial 12-month secondment, with offices and sites around the UK. Over the two-year programme, Digital & IT graduates will have the opportunity to rotate around Digital, IT and Cyber teams across the group.

Our group-wide Security & Corporate Services teams are at the cutting edge of technology, using Cyber, Digital, and AI to drive the NDA group forward. We’re constantly innovating to find new ways to improve our operations, deliver to our customers, and maximise the impact of our mission.

We’re working on some of the most challenging and interesting projects in the world, from developing new AI-powered systems to improve our risk management to creating digital solutions to streamline our supply chain. We’re passionate about using technology to make a difference, and we’re proud to be part of a world-leading team.

Join us and be a part of our exciting journey to the future of technology!

The opportunity

  • Help to identify and assess the latest Digital/AI technologies that could be used to improve the NDA group’s operations.
  • This could involve staying up-to-date on the latest trends and developments in the field, conducting research on specific technologies, and evaluating their potential impact on the NDA group.
  • Assist with the implementation and deployment of new Digital/AI technologies. This could involve working on projects to develop new systems or applications, integrate new technologies with existing systems, and train staff on how to use new technologies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of existing Digital/AI systems and processes.
  • This could involve collecting data on system performance, identifying areas for improvement, and developing and implementing recommendations for improvement.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to support IT strategies and roadmaps.
  • This could involve working with other teams, such as risk/finance, operations, and HR, to develop a shared understanding of the Group’s ICT needs and to support plan development to meet those needs.
  • To develop and apply knowledge of Microsoft Technology and automation tools to help improve organisational performance
  • Work within wider teams, specialising within the use of cloud analytics and focused on analysis of system information

In addition to these specific tasks, graduates could also support the function in a variety of other ways, such as:

  • Conducting research on industry best practices
  • Developing and delivering presentations and training materials
  • Writing and editing technical documentation
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of new IT policies and procedures

Working in this function would provide a graduate with the opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of Digital/AI technologies and to play a key role in helping the NDA group to maintain its world-leading capabilities in this area.

We are particularly interested in candidates with the following degrees subjects and/or related subjects:

  • Computer Science / Computing
  • Cyber Security
  • Digital Forensics
  • Information Technology
